How to Play
Before you begin, pick someone to be the Game Master and all others are the Players. The Players draw 1 Character card and 1 Item card from the decks, while the Game Master draws 1 Scenario. Then the Game Master reads the Scenario and crafts a short narrative for the Players to interact with. The Players will use their Character and Item to affect the story, rolling the d20 and adding the respective bonuses. The Game Master will decide whether they succeed or fail the challenge, as well as the overall Scenario.
Game Master
This means you're the one "in charge" of the current playthrough. Feel free to trade Game Masters as often as you like, or subject your friend who's really good at it to be in charge all night. You will draw the Situation card and read it aloud for your Players. Then, use your own imagination to expound upon the story and lead your Players through the adventure.
When the Players seek to accomplish a task, have them roll the d20 and add any relevant skills or their Item card bonus. For example, if Punchy Sixpack wants to attack the pirate invaders with the Sword of Polymorph, have them roll the d20 + their Body stat + the Sword of Polymorph stat. Then you decide if that attack was successful based on how high they rolled. Feel free to tell them what number they're trying to reach, or keep it a secret for more anticipation. Then play continues through a brief story, really however long you want to go. And don't feel bad if your Players fail the challenge - failing is a part of all TTRPGs. Just run another Scenario!
Player
This means you're the one embarking on this adventure. Draw 1 Character Card and 1 Item card and read them over. Feel free to introduce yourself to the other members of your party, giving as much or as little description as you're comfortable with. Then as the Game Master begins to weave the story before you, put yourself in your Character's shoes and create a serious, or silly, solution!
You'll be rolling your d20 to decide if you succeed or fail at various challenges, but if you use your stats and Items creatively, you'll have a higher chance of succeeding. But don't fret! Sometimes failing is just as fun as succeeding. There is no winning or losing SpeedyRPG, only telling a story! The whole point is to have fun and craft a story together. Use your imagination to the fullest and don't be confined by what's on the card. If you're a Druid, turn into an animal! If you're a Rogue, climb a building and hide in the shadows! You aren't limited by the three stats on your Character card. Make each Character and Scenario you're own!
